1 tablespoon tomato paste (optional, for richer flavor)
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
½ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
4 hamburger buns, split
Instructions:
Brown the Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, crumble and cook the ground beef and chopped onion until the beef is browned and the onion is softened. Drain off any excess grease.
Add Barbecue Sauce and Flavorings: Stir in the barbecue sauce,tomato paste (if using), Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
Simmer: Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium-low heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 10-15 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly and the flavors have melded.
Assemble Sandwiches: Spoon the barbecue Sloppy Joe mixture generously onto the bottom halves of the hamburger buns. Top with the other half of the bun.
Serve: Serve immediately and enjoy your smoky and satisfying Sloppy Joes!

Chopped bell pepper (any color), cooked with the onion.
